Proven Male Baldness Treatments

Many men have to deal with thinning hair or going bald at some point in their lives. Male baldness can cause self-esteem problems, anxiety and worries, and there are numerous baldness treatments offered on the market today.

Possible reasons for baldness are:
  • Diet
A diet lacking in proteins could possibly contribute to hair loss. Research has shown that regular consumption of soy could ward off baldness, and stop the development of prostate cancer, in men. A healthy diet and regular exercise will help keep blood healthy and circulating, aiding cell renewal on the scalp, ensuring new growth stimulation.
  • Hereditary causes for baldness
The genetic setup is accountable for many baldness problems. A gene related to the male chromosome (the male sex) is handed down to men through the mother. Hereditary baldness on the family side of the mother may lead to a higher chance of baldness after the age of 50. The growing cycle of the hair becomes shorter and the hair does not grow as long as it used to grow. This will continue until the growth cycle ends completely resulting in baldness.
  • Ageing
Hair gets thinner and might stop growing, following a certain pattern, on the scalp. There is not set age and depending on hereditary factors some men will experience frontal baldness (hair loss at the front of the skull, above the forehead) after their fiftieth year.
Cures for Baldness

There are several different kinds of baldness treatments, all focusing on curing male baldness. As baldness can be such a sensitive problem, there is a huge market in fake baldness treatments too. Possible working treatments for baldness are:

Medication

Hair loss can be treated with either topical (applied on the bald areas) medication or oral (capsules or tablets) medication. Two examples of these types of medication are:

Rogaine
(active ingredient being minoxidil). This topical treatment can be used for both males and females. It will take at least six month before any results are seen.

Propecia
(active ingredient being finasteride) is an oral medication. The treatment does not work for every man due to unknown factors, but once the medication is topped, baldness might occur again.

Crudoleum

Crudoleum is a natural topical remedy, based on unrefined crude oil from Pennsylvania. Combined with other ingredients such as tea tree, this oil is massaged into the scalp. The properties of the crude oil stimulate the blood flow in the scalp and encourage hair growth. The effect of this treatment will only be noticeable after 4-5 months. Crudoleum was discovered by Edgar Cayce from Virginia. He had visions as a teenager and after he graduated he diagnosed medical conditions and remedies through hypnotic trance.
